It’s a very special day when you can bring your dog to the famous Square Grouper Tiki Bar & Castaways Marina on the Jupiter Inlet. Dogs are usually not allowed inside this tropical landmark, but they’re all welcome one day each year for a Dog Wash & Tiki Towel off fundraiser to benefit Friends of Jupiter Beach.
Pooches can paddle in the water at Square Grouper beach, sun in the sand in view of the Lighthouse, and be pampered by volunteers, who lovingly wash and towel dry them all. Their owners are treated to great music, libations, lively vendors and treats.
If you haven’t been to the Square Grouper, it’s where Alan Jackson filmed a portion of the music video “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.”
We’re most grateful to owner Jim Burg and the Square Grouper crew for this boost to our fundraising efforts. Terrific sponsors & volunteers make it a fabulous day. Special thanks to our 2010 major sponsors PNC Bank, Miller’s Fine Decorative Hardware, TD Bank, In The Kitchen, KOOL 105.5fm radio, Panache, a Classic Party Rentals Company.
For those of you who missed the the first two events (8/8/09 & 7/31/10), you can relive the fun by clicking on the video link below. Special thanks to Tina Valant, Joanna Aiken, Penny Sheltz, and Cyndi Lenz for forever capturing the excitement of the events in video and vivid photos. 2009 Dog Wash video
